Ok, this is the first time i want for make a devlog to a jam game.

The theme is "Something's Missing", but i can ignore the theme with the Wildcard "You Wot M8?".
I'll use the Wildcard "Oregano" as theme. ;)

Goal is to produce a little RTS like Dune 2 or early Command & Conquer, but with oregano as currency.

I've never made a RTS like this, so this could be pretty funny.

Here an overview of what i want to to:

  • proceduall generated maps (no time to make pretty maps myself)
  • more or less challanging AI (at least it should ne send 1 unit after another...)
  • A* for Pathfinding
  • Small Techtree

I'll start today with map-generation and Pathfinding.

Huh, I thought that procedural generation is a ton more complicated. If you are in doubt, take the humane route, you won’t miss ;)

It won't be very complicated...

I'll just use some PerlinNoise and layer it over another. I hope i can provide screenshot today evening.

Ah, I have just seen it in Discord. I eat my words. What I meant to say is more sophisticated procedural generation than just random noise. For, you see, I’m all hands on sensitive terrain generation 🙄

Of course it's much better with handdrawn maps.

At the moment i think i'll add some hndmade maps as kind of campain. But it really want to concentrate on pathfinding and AI. :)
